Baby Shower Day!

This was a day that I had been dreaming about for years...

As soon as we found out we were pregnant I knew that this baby needed the biggest party! Not only were were celebrating our sweet baby boy but we were celebrating the fact that all our hard work and crazy journey had paid off. We did it, we finally found the baby we had so desperately been wishing for. I instantly took to Pinterest, picked a loose theme and called upon my favorite dream team to help craft this amazing event.

Showers in general are kind of tricky, you have to walk a line between being tradition versus being cheesy. Do you do the games? Do you do co-ed? How much of the silly "baby" things do you subscribe to? It's all personal preference. For me, I love games but I wanted them to be more personal. I love photos so we had a game where we guessed the age of Chris and I in different photos, which was fun! We also did an IVF trivia game to test everyones knowledge or reproduction and infertility issues. My sisters brain child and I LOVED it!

I also knew it was important for my mom and sister to throw it for me, we decided to leave the boys at home because A) all the mamas could use a break and B) All they do is eat all the food anyways! Just kidding but it was nice to have a ladies only event!

I had a vision for the decor and a love of DIY project so I also wanted to be involved too! We threw the shower in my mom's backyard which was awesome and actually recycled a ton of stuff I had used at our wedding, like the vintage glass, table runners, and macrame pieces. I designed the invitations and painted all the signage and my girl Pamela from French Bouquet killed with the center pieces and floral elements. My friend Amanda's mom made all those amazing cookies! It truly was a group effort and it all came together beautifully!

One of my favorite parts was my dress, it was Fillyboo and I knew once I saw it that it was "the one!" I wore it for my maternity photos to (post coming soon!) and I knew I wanted to wear it for his one year photos too. It's so hard to feel pretty and glamorous when you are pregnant so make sure to find a dress that you absolutely love for your shower and your maternity photos. For me it was that dress. Definitely one of those sentimental pieces that I will always cherish!

Big thanks to Amanda for capturing the day! To Pamela for all the gorgeous flowers! To my mom and sister (and the boys!) for all their hard work and prep, it wouldn't have come together without you. It was such an unforgettable day and I will be eternally grateful that I got to have that celebration. There were so many dark days where I never thought I would have that party, it was so surreal and so emotional. It was one of the first days I finally let myself be happy and feel the joy of our little bird. He is so lucky to be surrounded by so many amazing aunties!
